The recent pandemic has shaken up the world as we used to know it. How we used to do business has changed dramatically. However, when uncertainty is reframed and understood as opportunity, there is an exciting possibility for change. The key challenge for today’s organisations is how they can actively shape this change towards a desirable outcome.  Design is most powerful when it is not just used to solve today's problems but to create the future as it should be. When traditional analysis no longer applies, it is time to synthesize and craft visions that allow for new perspectives.

At the kind invitation of our DJW member Goodpatch, we invite you to an interactive webinar full of insights and discussions around how organisations can leverage design to create a vision of their desirable futures and start working on them right away. Get to know the vision cone strategy methodology and learn how to see beyond today, which is more needed than ever in times like these.

Speaker Samuel Huber, Director Design Division, Goodpatch Berlin

Samuel Huber works as the Director Design Division at Goodpatch Europe. His studies in sociology, economy, management and design led him to the Universities of Zurich, St. Gallen and all the way to Stanford and Tokyo. The fascination for systemic problems, making innovation happen and a curiosity for uncertain situations have provided him with a variety of experiences. He was a founding member of UBS Y, the future think tank of a big financial provider, worked in a New York art gallery, focused on development economics with Biovision and now enjoys his work in interdisciplinary teams to conceptualize and develop anything from compression stockings to electric mobility platforms. In addition to that, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in “Prototyping Strategy” to shed light on the interface of strategy and design in uncertain contexts at “the edge” of technology.

About Our Host

Goodpatch is an international design company, driven by the mission to prove the power of design. They collaborate with a network of global corporate partners to solve complex problems with a human-centered approach. Creating lovable products is at the core of the Goodpatch DNA. Their offering includes user research, strategy, UX/UI design, and the development of apps and immersive AR/VR experiences. All of this is embedded in a powerful ecosystem that Goodpatch shapes with their partners through organizational design, namely in the creation of in-house design teams and ventures.

Goodpatch was founded in 2011 by Naofumi Tsuchiya after he moved back to Tokyo from Silicon Valley. Today, Goodpatch’s Japanese roots and influence have impacted a highly diverse team of 160 people, across three studios in Tokyo, Berlin, and Munich. Goodpatch’s clients and partners include Toyota, Daimler, Audi, Renault-Nissan, TietoEvry, Here, emmy Sharing, and NTT DATA.

Next to client work, Goodpatch has developed in-house products, which include Prott, a prototyping tool for mobile apps, and Athena, a virtual and augmented reality tool for designing and testing experiences around the connected car. With Athena, it is now possible to design and evaluate user interfaces and user experiences in cross reality (XR) before moving to physical prototypes, avoiding costly and slow iteration cycles.
