Working Group "Sustainability"

Welcome to the DJW Working Group "Sustainability"!

Our DJW member, Jean Bauer, who has been actively involved in the field of sustainability for 10 years and has been self-employed in this area since 2023, has established a new working group within DJW to provide a platform for direct exchange on this incredibly important topic within DJW members!

The working group brings together companies of all sizes and industries, self-employed individuals, private individuals, and anyone interested in the topic of "Sustainability in the German and Japanese economy." The goal is to understand and compare the diverse regulations of both countries, identify market trends, exchange experiences and perspectives, and collaboratively find practical solutions.

In many companies, the current developments surrounding ESG and the EU’s regulatory adjustments are causing uncertainty – particularly for ESG managers. Structures are changing, responsibilities are being redistributed, and the question often arises: What does the future hold for ESG within the company?

In the next meeting of our working group, we want to look ahead. Together, we aim to have an open discussion on how ESG managers, with their expertise and know-how, can continue to play a key role even in a changing environment.

• What strengths do ESG managers bring to the table?
• Where can they create added value for other departments?
• How can sustainability be anchored in the company over the long term – even beyond traditional ESG structures?

Your active participation is highly encouraged – bring your perspectives, experiences, and ideas. Our goal is to jointly develop approaches to sustainably and effectively integrate ESG expertise into companies.

Meeting Flow

During our meetings, all participants are invited to share their opinion and alternative solutions on these issues. We like to encourage everybody to contribute with their own experiences bettering our understanding. The main spoken language will be English, but questions can be posed in German and in Japanese as well.
