Sake Tasting

As the year draws to a close, we would like to invite our members in Germany to join us for a festive sake tasting.

Sake, or nihonshu, is often referred to as Japan's national beverage. It is made from polished rice, and just like with wine in Germany, there are many different varieties of sake, depending on the region and the degree to which the rice is polished, as well as other factors. Sake expert Ms. Naomi Ito will guide us through the evening, giving background information on the manufacturing process of sake and explaining the differences of the varieties of sake. We will taste four different varieties from different parts of Japan, each with their own distinctive flavour and character.

Ms. Naomi Ito, Ueno Gourmet GmbH

Born into a family of sake brewes, Naomi Ito has been a big sake fan from her early years. Her hobbies are kimono and nihon buyô (Japanese dance), and she likes to present sake in style. She always does her best to serve and present sake in an authentic Japanese atmosphere. Naomi Ito holds the WSET Level 3 Award in Sake.

Participation Fee

DJW members: EUR 25,00
Non-members: EUR 60,00

The participation fee covers the tasting set as well as shipping costs within Germany. Further details concerning the shipping process will be provided individually to registered participants.

Please register by 25 November 2021, to allow enough time for the sake tasting set to reach you on time. Please make sure to provide us with your correct postal address for shipping.

For this event, we can welcome a maximum of 25 participants. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Note:

According to our conditions of participation, the participation fee is due for no-shows as well. Registered participants who need to cancel their attendance may do so by email up to 3 days prior to the event. However, we cannot issue any refunds for the tasting set once it is shipped. Thank you for your cooperation.
