Business Exchange | Community Event | German-Japanese Topics
Japamburg is a non-profit German-Japanese network founded in 2021 and based in Hamburg. The community aims at linking business representatives in Hamburg, Germany and Japan even more closely via regular event formats covering innovation topics of German-Japanese interest. Since 2023, Japamburg is organized within DJW as working group creating deepening synergies between our two organizations.
Japamburg invites you to a very exclusive event. A behind-the-scenes construction tour of the upcoming Digital Art Museum here in Hamburg's Hafencity. Until now, a look behind the scenes and at the museum’s construction site was not possible and was reserved for only a very small number of people. Currently, both photography and videography are strictly prohibited on site. This makes it all the more special that we are now being granted an exclusive insight into the construction site in Hamburg’s HafenCity and are able to be part of it from the very beginning.
UBS Digital Art Museum
The UBS Digital Art Museum will be the largest museum in Europe dedicated exclusively to digital and immersive art. The specially designed building section in Hamburg’s HafenCity covers an area of 6,500 square meters, with ceiling heights of up to 12 meters. The large interior spaces provide the ideal setting for presenting this forward-looking art form. The museum will open with the exhibition teamLab Borderless, a vast art world created by the art collective teamLab. Through a unique fusion of art and technology, it will inspire millions of people with art.
Exhibitions by the worldwide known art collective from Japan regularly break visitor records around the globe. Millions of people have enjoyed the art by the leading digital art collective in Tokyo, the USA, Abu Dhabi, Asia and in several other locations around the world, and with this project, the first permanent exhibition in Europe will be established in Hamburg.
Artworks move beyond the boundaries of individual rooms, communicate with one another, influence and merge into each other, forming an infinite art world. Visitors can immerse themselves in the art with their entire bodies: walking through it, exploring it, discovering it, and transforming it in real time. Behind this exhibition concept lies state-of-the-art technology, orchestrated by international UI designers, artists, and mathematicians who have come together as the art collective teamLab.

Because of the nature of visiting an active construction site, we have to limit access to 13 people for safety reasons. Please DO NOT arrive uninvited at the event, because we will not be able to let you join.
