In October 2020, the Japanese Prime Minister Suga declared the goal of realizing a carbon-neutral, decarbonized society by 2050. The Japanese government led by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) formulated a “Green Growth Strategy through Achieving Carbon Neutrality” in December 2020.
To promote innovation in carbon-neutral related industries in Japan under the new policy, METI and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) have started a project called “J-Bridge Platform Europe” in carbon-neutral sectors in April. Within this project, JETRO will support business tie-ups between innovative European companies including start-ups and Japanese corporates to promote open innovation of these Japanese companies.
Representatives of the Japanese industry and leading European companies in the renewable energy sector will exchange their opinions about the perspective of future business opportunities in Japan.
