Germany is pushing forward with its energy transition. The new Scholz government seeks more ambitious policies than the previous government, such as increasing the share of renewable electricity supply from 65% to 80% by 2030 and bringing forward the completion of the coal phase-out from 2038 to ideally 2030. At the same time, it pursues the nuclear phase-out policy set by the previous government, which will be completed in 2022.
In this webinar, Markus Steigenberger, Managing Director of Agora Energiewende, a leading think-tank in Germany, will highlight the most recent developments of German energy and climate policies and its decarbonization strategies. Emi Ichiyanagi, researcher at Renewable Energy Institute, will also illustrate the German policies, legal developments, and prospects based on her report released in December 2021.
