Japan, like Germany, faces numerous challenges such as the Covid 19 pandemic, climate change, demographic change, digitization of industry and institutions, to which startups and researchers can contribute with innovative solutions. This event will highlight initiatives in Japan that aim to address these challenges by engaging international startups. In addition, the organizers would like to discuss how the existing relationships, especially from Central Germany, can be expanded in the sense of young companies and researchers.
The event is a kick-off of the German-Japanese Hub as part of the International Startup Campus - an initiative of the universities of the Central German University Alliance (Mitteldeutscher Universitätsbund). Japan is already an important partner country for numerous activities out of Central Germany based on trusting business and personal contacts: Universities, research institutions as well as startups and companies from the region are collaborating with players in Japan in areas such as life science and optics. Therefore, the International Startup Campus wants to contribute to introduce a new generation of founders, young companies and researchers to Japan.
