Working Group "Intercultural Management": Merger Integration Excellence

DJW members Dr. Rolf D. Schlunze, Carsten Watanabe, and Aoi Ono would like to invite you to contribute to the DJW Working Group "Intercultural Management". In our working group, we aim at discussing various intercultural aspects of working in a Japanese-German business environment. The DJW Working Group "Intercultural Management" meets on regular basis to discuss the topic of intercultural competence.

Our first session this year will in spirit continue right where we left of in 2024, with change management. While last year we were focused on managing internal change we invited Dr. Christoph Rohloff to talk about the corporate side of change, Post Merger Integration.

Companies are founded to last, not to merge or being acquired. Yet, when companies are being bought or sold, a tightly woven and uniquely grown net of organizational competence, coherence and sense-making is being torn apart. And it is the task of Post Merger Integration projects to address these highly dynamic and largely instable phases that precede and follow the legal closing of M&A transactions.

In the working group session, you will

• get an overview of the main activities, like e.g. Day 1 preparation, and the do's and don'ts in Merger Integration projects,
• real case insights from exemplary projects including a spotlight on Japanese-European integration constellations and
• the invitation to bring in and discuss your views and experiences around Post Merger Integrations

Participants have an opportunity to relate to each other by selecting the next speaker themselves. We would like to encourage everybody to contribute with your own experiences to improve our intercultural competence.
