The "Members for Members" format of DJW invites our members to open their workplaces, production sites, stadiums, conference spaces and exhibition areas for representatives of the Japanese-German business community, it invites them to create events sharing their manifold experience. The "Members for Members" events are gladly supported by DJW with promotion via our website, our monthly newsletter, by means of a greeting or a contribution to the content; further orchestration is in the hands of the inviting member and leaves room to the member's own ideas.

On this occasion, our member Noerr Partnerschaftsgesellschaft mbB invites you to their offices in Düsseldorf, covering the following topic:

In recent years, the EU has become a main provider of and also a top global destination for foreign direct investments. Investments and financial flows into the EU as such are welcome, as the EU offers an open single market for economic operators from around the world under level playing field conditions.

However, the channeling of funds into the EU for companies owned or subsidised by third states, the acquisition of European targets by foreign-subsidised companies and the participation of such companies for public procurements may have distortive effects on the internal market. The EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) aim is to create a level playing field for all companies operating in the EU’s internal market. And whereas the European Commission may not have targeted Japanese companies, the FSR will also need to be considered by Japanese companies doing business in the EU if they receive financial contributions from a non-EU country.

Join our experts Dr. Bärbel Sachs, LL.M., Sarah Blazek, E.MA, Jana Baumann and Dr. Thomas Schulz, LL.M. for an overview of the applicable rules and how these may affect your company’s business as well as an outlook at M&A in Germany in 2023.
