Japamburg is a non-profit German-Japanese network founded in 2021 and based in Hamburg. The community aims at linking business representatives in Hamburg, Germany and Japan even more closely via regular event formats covering innovation topics of German-Japanese interest. Since 2023, Japamburg is organized within DJW as working group creating deepening synergies between our two organizations.
For the start into 2025, Japamburg will open with another edition of our event format “German-Japanese Business Stories from Hamburg” on January 29. This time we are glad to be able to invite you to Hamburg’s Rothenburgsort district with Stefan Fink Schreibgeräte & Möbel as our host. The purpose of this format is to offer a deep dive into German-Japanese business stories from Hamburg and to offer meaningful opportunities to network with peers within this bilateral business field.
Stefan Fink is an industrial designer with a unique background: before his studies, he mastered the traditional crafts of woodworking and woodturning. This rare combination of artisanal skill and contemporary design expertise defines his work. Based in Rothenburgsort Fink creates timeless writing instruments and furniture that are handcrafted through over 300 meticulous steps. His approach reflects a deep respect for natural materials, emphasizing the beauty and functionality of wood in a manner reminiscent of Zen arts.
Fink’s writing instruments and furniture are exclusively available through him directly, ensuring a highly personalized consultation process. Customers can explore his creations in Hamburg or order them remotely with tailored guidance. His works, which have earned numerous accolades and are featured in prominent museum collections, also find recognition in Japan. Represented by the nichinichi gallery in Kyoto, Fink’s artistry bridges traditional craftsmanship and modern design, appealing to connoisseurs worldwide.
The event will serve as an introduction to Stefan Fink’s works and his business activities connecting Hamburg and Japan through a guided facilities tour and a networking session in a relaxed atmosphere.
