"Intercultural Management": Rethinking Intercultural Leadership

DJW members Dr. Rolf D. Schlunze, Carsten Watanabe, and Aoi Ono would like to invite you to contribute to the DJW Working Group "Intercultural Management". In our working group, we aim at discussing various intercultural aspects of working in a Japanese-German business environment. The DJW Working Group "Intercultural Management" meets on regular basis to discuss the topic of intercultural competence.

Do we need Interculturally Competent Leaders in Japanese-German Business?

Does DJW need agile members who can bridge cultural boundaries promoting intercultural understanding? Prof. Dr. Sierk Horn presents basics of intercultural dialogues. The starting point is the situational or individual world of experiences including "culture bumps”. Understanding how to recognise and tackle these hurdles we can become an intercultural competent leader who is able to foster an environment of mutual respect and learning. Those leaders transform potential obstacles into opportunities for growth and cooperation.

We would like to encourage everybody to contribute with your own experiences to improve our intercultural competence.
