Gerhard Wiesheu zum Präsidenten des VDJG gewählt

Unser Vorstandsvorsitzender Gerhard Wiesheu wurde zum Präsidenten des VDJG gewählt. Er übernimmt das Amt von unserem Vorstandsmitglied Dr. Volker Stanzel. Gerhard Wiesheu ist Vorstandssprecher der B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. AG in Frankfurt am Main. Er ist zuständig für die Unternehmensstrategie des Bankhauses und verantwortet zudem das Geschäftsfeld Private Banking. Seit 2009 ist er Mitglied des Vorstands und seit 2011 Vorstandsvorsitzender. Wir von DJW gratulieren ihm ganz herzlichst. 

Germany and Japan are connected by far more than political dialogue and economic cooperation. Our relationship lives through people – through encounters, friendships and a genuine interest in one another.

It is therefore a great honour to have been elected President of the Association of German-Japanese Societies (VDJG) at the general assembly held at the Japanese-German Center Berlin | JDZB.

The VDJG brings together around 50 German-Japanese societies across Germany, from major cities to smaller communities and regions. Their work is diverse, but they share the same goal: to strengthen mutual understanding between our two countries and to create opportunities for personal exchange.

I look forward to working with the newly elected board members, our member societies and partners in both countries. My warm congratulations also go to former Ambassador Dr. Volker Stanzel on being appointed Honorary President. His long-standing commitment to German-Japanese relations is well deserved and deeply appreciated.
