Aufgaben/ 業務内容:

We are looking for a chemist (m/f) interested in patent work in our law firm in Munich, Germany. Training in European patent law will be provided by our firm. The candidate will be working in the prosecution of European patent applications, including drafting of patent applications and opposition briefs, commenting and responding to office actions, attending oral proceedings, participating client meetings and translating client correspondence from Japanese to English. There will be an opportunity to sit the European Qualifying Examination for European Patent Attorneys, if desired by the candidate.

Anforderungen/ 資格:

The candidate should have a master’s degree in chemistry, preferably in metallurgy. We are looking for a native Japanese speaker with excellent knowledge of the English language in writing. A willingness to work in our law firm for at least five years is expected.

About the Firm:
For more than 100 years our law firm specialises in intellectual property including patents serving clients from all over the world. Our staff is an international team, including six native Japanese speakers, two of them are Japanese patent attorneys.

We will assist the candidate with obtaining a work permission in Germany. The Japanese members of our firm, who have been with us for many years, will be helping getting familiar not only with the daily work routine but also with the living conditions and daily life in Munich.

Since it is our philosophy to train the attorneys working at our law firm by ourselves, we have a well-established system in training candidates having a scientific background in European patent practice.

We are looking for a long-term commitment. After a probation period of six months, the employment contract will provide an unlimited employment. As the candidate will obtain an intensive training in European patent law, a minimum stay at our law firm of five years is expected.

Our location is close to the city center of Munich, which is one of the most attractive cities in Europe having a lively international community including the Japanese International School, Munich.
